Comfort in a Toric Contact Lens for Astigmatism
Optometrist Advice on Toric Contact Lenses
Who needs a Contact Lens for Astigmatism? If your astigmatism is -0.75D or more, you will gain better clarity from a contact lens that caters for your astigmatism. People with lower levels of astigmatism can get good vision from an averaging-out of their prescription with a standard contact lens.
And why wear contact lenses rather than glasses?
Contact Lenses are safer for sports, you can wear normal sunglasses over contact lenses and it's nice to have a change from glasses for going out.

I have High Astigmatism: Can I wear Contact Lenses?

Daily Disposable Lenses are now available for the lower, more common grades of astigmatism (up to about -2.00), so you can enjoy the freedom of new lenses every time you wear them.
Ask your Optometrist what is available for your personal prescription.
What other lens options do I have?
