About Me
- Who writes Optometrist-Advice.com?

Hello! My name is Felicity Mullette. I am an independent Optometrist in Carlingford, in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia.

How did I end up writing a website that gets read from people all over the world looking for help on their eye problems?

Well, I didn’t always want to be an Optometrist. In fact, when I did some work experience with an Optometrist when I was at school, it turned me right off the idea!

I thought about doing Cabinet Making, Prosthetics and straight Science. (Weird mix, heh?)

In the end I came back to Optometry because it held a lot of the elements I wanted in a job – technical skill, mixing with different kinds of people, being a real helping profession, and flexibility for future maternity situations.

So I gave it a shot, ready to quit if I didn’t like the course.

But I loved it!

The eye is such an intricate organ. It affects everything we do (80% of our learning involves the eyes). And when things go wrong with the eyes, it affects your whole life.

I am honoured to be able to make a real difference in people’s lives by reducing their visual difficulties. And I love that I can make a difference so quickly – often with just a pair of custom glasses or contact lenses.

After a few years of working for other people, I caught the bug to go into business for myself and High Sight Optometry was born.

High Sight Optometry is my little boutique Eyecare practice specialising in fashion, comfort and quality. Being an independent Optometrist, you know you’ll get personal service and tailor-made eyewear that’s right for you. I guarantee you personal attention from an Optometrist who listens and understands your needs, tailoring a solution for your best vision.

After a few years the time came for a website so people could find me easier. So I started looking around for a web designer.

Thankfully, a business associate put me on to Site Build It! (SBI) for a way to build a website myself. Those who know me well, know I love to do things myself. I sew my own clothes, build garden walls, redecorate the house regularly…..I love DIY!

But experience shows that DIY is often not as good as the professionals and there can be a long learning curve. (How many ill-fitting shirts did I make before I got it right?)

So I was a little hesitant about messing up with a DIY website.

But the more I read about Site Build It, the more confident I got. I read all the testimonials and watched all the videos of current SBIers that went before me. And I found out they were people just like me, who knew nothing about building websites before they started.

So I took the plunge!

After all, it’s cheaper than a Yellow Pages Ad. My Yellow Pages Ad hasn’t brought me any customers. SBI has.

I love that I can do so much more with my website than just have an online business card.

My website is found by people all over the world looking for advice and information on Eyecare. I can help people the world over, not just my suburb. Amazing!

This site is still a work in progress as I add more content on different aspects of eyecare. It is all written by myself, not a collection of articles. It is the same advice I give my customers face-to-face.

If you have a question that I haven’t answered yet, or you would like more detail please send it in via my Eye Exam FAQ page .

If you are in Sydney and would like a face-to-face consultation please book an appointment. I look forward to meeting you.

When you need new glasses:

I endeavor to stock interesting frame designs that you won't find elsewhere. This year’s autumn colours and shapes bring the interest back up to your eyes with a natural glamour. You can view our range of frames in store in an unhurried manner. I have qualified staff to help you find the look you want and advise you on shapes and colours that really bring out your eyes.

Now that glasses are a fashion statement, you can have more fun with your eyewear!

But whether you like to wear loud colors, refined culture or "just make it tough" in your frames, the lenses are the most important part of your glasses. So, at High Sight Optometry we match the latest technologies in spectacles lenses with your lifestyle requirements to provide you with your personal maximum clarity and comfort.

Have you tried contact lenses?

Or you can be free of glasses for the day, or everyday, in the latest Contact Lens technologies. These just keep getting better and better! New Multifocal Contact Lenses open up this experience to those who use reading glasses as well.

There is a Contact Lens for every person and prescription. Through our professional fitting and trial process, you can be confident to try the new Lenses for yourself with no obligation. Don't forget to check out the sunglass pages for the latest on choosing the right pair for you!
